Making Farming Cool Again

SOS FARMING ACADEMY
To create a zero-waste, working farm utilizing some of today’s most advanced organic food production technologies, inside an array of climate-controlled greenhouses, using low-cost LED for 24/7 growing as well as the one drop system.

Engaging youth in agriculture is a prominent topic with a worldwide growing concern that young people have become disinterested. With 85% of most young people living in developing countries, such as South Africa, agriculture provides a main source of income and it is vital that young people connect again with farming. The new learning academy intends to reignite motivation for farming by a number of ways. Introducing new computer technologies to monitor and manage crops, as well as teaching Aquaponics and advanced light technology used for enhanced plant growth. The stereotype of traditional farming needs to be changed. The younger generation can help introduce new technologies into traditional farming methods which then has the potential to create new solutions and help them change the perception of farming and agriculture as an exciting and innovative industry.

Our internal partnered educational focus will be to provide possibilities for youth.
